Abstract:
The aim of this dissertation is to analyse the features of the actual economic background in the Russian Federation. Russia is considered a developing country and an emerging market, which represents an interesting opportunity to Italian companies, thanks to the respective import and export system’s organization.
In the first chapter, we consider the transition phase since the dissolution of the Soviet Union and the passage to a market economy and we describe the strong points and the limits of the Russian economy, such as the dependence on hydrocarbons and the need of modernization and diversification.
Due to the Ukrainian crisis, economic sanctions were adopted by the European Union and the USA towards Russia and so did the Russian Federation towards the western world. In the second chapter, we study the restrictive measures in order to show their economic impact on both European and Russian markets.
In the third chapter, we investigate the ongoing economic relations between Italy and Russia, which have not been compromised by the introduction of sanctions and may expand further in the next years
