Abstract:
The aim of this study is to understand how the digital industries are developing in the digital economy in Italy and in South Korea and also how they affect all the other industries.
The introduction of the thesis outlines the importance of the digital economy, the General Purpose Technologies and the future of the digital economy.
Later, the study analyzes the global digital trend in order to understand the reference framework, all the new technologies, the necessary competences and the frameworks implemented to use these new technologies at their best. Moreover, an analysis of the digitization index will help us to understand which are the aspects that a country has or must have in order to create a favorable environment for the development of the digital industries and their concerning spillovers.
Successively, the study focuses deeply on the Italian and Korean situation. From the digital culture to the statistical data, from the industries involved in this digital transformation to the workforce competences that each country needs, from the policies to the investments realized and these that need to be implemented.
Finally, the last chapter of this study, as a result of the previews analysis (global, Italian and Korean), highlights what the Italian digital economy is missing in order to excel and the role of the spillover effects in the non-digital industries (and how the can be create).
