The thesis has the purpose to analyse how the trends in hiring new graduates in Italy have changed during the recent ten years, consequently to the changes in economy, and especially to the outstanding rising of China as the world’s economy leader.
The first part deals with what HRM is, and what are its implications in terms of linguistic competences. In particular, the focus on the competences regards the new figure of sinologists with economic fundamentals, and their new roles inside the companies’ placement. By “graduates” and “sinologists”, I mean specifically the students coming from the curriculum “Language and Management to China”, which I attended. The second part includes an introduction on the internationalization process, how Chinese companies go global, and a research on the offering of Ca’ Foscari University. Finally, the last part concerns the case study on DFS Italia s.r.l company, as an illustrative example of how the trends in HRM are changing, due to the recent and rapid transformation of the world’s labour market. An interview to the HR managers has been carried out, to underline that the reality is changing: sinologists can play a key role inside companies dealing with China, thus, their added value is necessary to help companies achieving the competitive advantage. What was considered unbelievable only ten years ago, today is coming true. Can Chinese language students with economic competences really become managers?
The results of the interview, the preliminary analysis on the changing trends involving HRM, and on the University’s educational offering, represent the proof and the answer to the question above. |
