Abstract:
The need for behavioural competencies are becoming an increasing hot topic. As such the purpose of this thesis is to examine how behavioural competencies can be taught in high schools, universities, and workplaces. Why teaching behavioural competencies in general is important will be discussed, as well as why it is important at each of the three life stages. Four case studies will also be looked at, in order to provide examples of institutions that are teaching soft skills well already, and to highlight programs that could be reapplied. These cases will be compared to the ESCI model in order to understand which are the most successful methods. It was found that teach soft skills in high school is the most important area for further research. This area is one of growing importance and can provide students not only with the tools to succeed in the workplace but also in university life.
