Abstract:
The research investigates the emergence of the creativity discourse and how the creative economy has been recently developing.
Creativity has been conceived as the ability of the people to develop new ideas and produce something original as well as a study of innovation, an essential factor for the growth of a Country.
The first part of the thesis is composed by a wide examination of the creativity, firstly analysed throughout the several frameworks which tried to demarcate the role of cultural and creative industries, then in a specific context, the Creative City, fundamental actor of economic regional growth through the Creative Class – talent, technology, tolerance- approach of Florida.
The second part investigates the impulse of Creative Class applied to the Swedish country.
More specifically, there will be an analysis of the creative city of Stockholm and the music cluster developed.
The capital of Scandinavia shows a connection between innovation and regional growth, attracts talents and nurture business and economic development.
The analysis on the creative dimension of Stockholm aimed at understanding how the urban regeneration related to a cultural background and the role of municipalities has made the city creative in a parallel discourse with the Creative Class.
The, the study will focus on the creative music milieu born in Stockholm, a nerve centre for the development of the creative music industry following the trend of digitalization.
Finally, through the case study of Spotify, the most successful Swedish music company, the research will try to understand the social and cultural factors that determined the buzz of the music industries in Sweden.
